Talat Parvez presides over mega public Darbar at Sumlar

Bandipora, Jan 23: Commissioner of Enquiries, J&K, Talat Parvez Rohella, Tuesday presided over a Public Darbar cum Grievance Redressal Camp at Sumlar area of district Bandipora wherein he listened to the grievances and took stock of the issues faced by the people.

Chairperson District Development Council Bandipora, Abdul Gani Bhat, Vice Chairperson Kowsar Shafeeq, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Shakeel Ur Rehman Rather, DDC Arin Gh Mohiuddin, ADDC Bandipora Mohammad Ashraf Bhat, ADC Bandipora Umar Shafi and other senior officers of all line departments besides representatives of various delegations were present on the occasion.

The public Darbar witnessed overwhelming participation from all sections of the society, including civil society members, locals, and youth who apprised the Commissioner about various developmental and other issues being faced by them.

The DDC Arin, on the occasion, presented a detailed overview of the Arin Block Arin and also detailed charter of demands, including power supply, healthcare, education, skill centers, veterinary centres, and roads besides others issues.

Other demands put forth by the representatives of various delegations included Girls High School, Degree College, receiving station, disposal of pending cases under PMAY. The households affected by PMGSY demanded for pending compensation.

Providing sheep rearing units to unemployed youth besides forest timber depo, range office in the area, and wavering of KCC loans were among other grievances raised by the common people during the program. The locals also demanded bringing Arin Dardpora, Sirander, Kudara areas under the tourism map owing to the huge tourism potential of the region.

While responding to the demands of bringing some areas of the division on the tourism map, the Commissioner assured early redressal in the matter. 

Responding to the issues of PMAY cases, BDO Arin informed that a total of 160 cases for the current year have been sanctioned, while more than 150 cases have also been taken up under PMAY. He said that the first and second instalment has already been released in favor of these cases. He said that in the next fiscal year after the activation portal, more registrations in this regard are expected.

Talat Parvez, while interacting with line departments, called for adopting a time bound redressal/execution mechanism in resolving the issues of public importance by making optimum utilisation of resources. 

The Commissioner, while addressing the gathering, said that their demands shall be brought into the notice of Government and assured them of proper action and timely redressal of their grievances. 

The Commissioner said public darbar is a platform to obtain first hand appraisal from the gross root level besides reducing the communication gap between the public and the administration.

The Commissioner praised the efforts of all the stakeholders for overall development in the region and called upon them to continue to pursue Hon’ble LG’s cherished goal of good governance in the UT.

While emphasising the crucial role played by the youth, the Commissioner said that they serve as ambassadors for the development of the Nation as a whole.

The Commissioner reiterated the commitment of the UT government for ensuring holistic development in the villages, underscoring the administration's focus on infrastructure, healthcare, education, and other key sectors.

Earlier, the Commissioner inspected various stalls installed by different departments. He also handed over authority and sanction letters to various beneficiaries pertaining to welfare and income generation schemes.

On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Shakeel Ur Rehman also spoke about various issues especially emphasising the issue of drug menace and said that parents have the crucial role to play in order to curb the drug menace from the society. He said that parents should be vigilant on the activities of their wards.

The DC reiterated that the district administration is committed to the overallwelfare of people living in district Bandipora.
