System Runs on My Taxes, But Fails Me: B’Pora Legislator’s Outburst Leaves Govt Red-Faced

Jammu, Feb 03: Senior legislator Nizamuddin Bhat erupted in the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday, accusing the government machinery of systemic failure, high-handedness, and showing utter contempt for public representatives and citizens alike.

During the budget session, Bhat delivered a raw, impassioned speech that laid bare the crumbling state of governance under the current regime. Declaring himself at war with “the system,” he stated, as per Kashmir Convener, “I am pitting myself against the system—the system which was for me, which I have helped create, which is run on my taxes, on my expenditure, on my work, on my existence. I have not gotten justice from that system. It has been 15 years now.”

The lawmaker, who chairs a Premier’s Committee, narrated a shocking incident of alleged mistreatment at a government hospital, using it as a metaphor for the public’s plight. “I have been waiting for an hour and a half with a specialist… I saw the blood pressure of my wife taken by a compounder. This is the state we are in,” he revealed, exposing the grim reality of healthcare services.

His demand for accountability was met with a shocking revelation from the Treasury Bench: the matter had been previously “condoned” in a committee. This sparked Bhat’s fiercest rebuke.

“If you have condoned him, why didn’t you say anything? Why didn’t you say anything? Why didn’t you say anything?” he thundered, condemning the culture of impunity. “The perception has gone forth that you can play with anyone… You should have taken action against that doctor.”

Bhat’s outrage extended to the very core of the administration. “Are you satisfied with the working of the bureaucracy? With the working of professionals?” he challenged, receiving no meaningful answer from the government.

The legislator also lamented the degradation of democratic decorum within the Assembly, a symptom of the broader malaise. “I am sorry that people got up from their seats and started attacking each other. Here, people’s freedom is being thrown into this playground of toys… We are sick ourselves,” he stated, painting a picture of an institution in disarray.
