Srinagar, Jan 01 : Suspected militants on Tuesday evening fired upon a Special Police Officer (SPO) at Hanjan area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
The SPO identified as Sameer Ahmad Mir son of Wali Mohammad Mir Hajin-Payeen Rajpora suffered serious bullet wounds and was immediately shifted to PHC Rajpora for treatment but he succumbed on way to the hospital; police sources said.
Militants this evening barged inside the residential house of a policeman at Hanjan-Payeen in District Pulwama and fired upon him injuring him critically. Police has registered a case and initiated investigations in the matter, Police spokesman said.
Meanwhile, Army, SOG and CRPF cordoned off the area and launched a hunt to nab the attackers.
This is first killing in South Kashmir and today DG police also revives security scenario in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
