Sumbali Mawas Festival Returns After 35 Years at Nand Kishore Temple
DC Bandipora reviews arrangements, Pandit community expresses joy over revival
Bandipora, May 26: Sumbali Mawas—a traditional Hindu festival associated with the Nand Kishore Temple in Sumbal is set to be observed after a long gap of 35 years at Sumbal.
In preparation for the festival, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri, visited the temple on Monday to assess and review the arrangements being made for the smooth conduct of the event.
During his visit, DC M.A.Qadri interacted with members of the Pandit community.
The local pandit community members expressed joy over the revival of this historic and religious celebration. They informed the DC that Sumbali Mawas holds special spiritual significance for the community and its observance after more than three decades marks a moment of communal harmony and cultural rejuvenation in the area.
The community members informed that as part of the celebrations, prayers and rituals dedicated to Nand Kishore Maharaj will be performed on Tuesday.
During the visit, the DC took stock of facilities such as sanitation, water supply, electricity, security and other necessary arrangements. He assured full cooperation from the district administration to ensure a peaceful and successful celebrations.
During the visit, the Deputy commissioner was accompanied by ADC Zaffar Husson Shawl, SDM Murtaza Ahmad Sheikh and other concerned officers.
