Sumbal, Jun 08 : Traders Federation Sumbal Sonawari in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Saturday staged a protest and took out a protest rally against the objectionable and defamatory remarks by a self-styled religious cleric Moulana Bilal Ahmad Kumar.
Locals said the protesters chanted slogans of justice in favour of girls while carrying banners and placards and demanded strict action against the religious cleric for defaming the female folk of the area.
Meanwhile, Sub-divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sumbal Sonawari issued a warrant against the Moulvi and directed him to be present before the court of Law on 11 June. Soon after the video of Moulvi Bilal Kumar went viral on social media, it was opposed by locals as well as religious leaders.
Traffic movement was restored after an hour after the protesters dispersed peacefully. Earlier, Traders Federation Sumbal Bandipora had called for a peaceful protest against the speech of Moulana Bilal Kumar.
