Bandipora June 5: To commemorate World Environment Day, Sumbal Police organized a plantation drive under the supervision of SDPO Sumbal, Nawaz Ahmad, By the Directions Of SSP Bandipora with the aim of promoting environmental conservation and raising awareness about the importance of afforestation.
The drive witnessed the participation of SHO Sumbal, Mir Saleem, Traders Federation Sumbal, senior citizens, and members of the civil society, and police personnel.
As part of the initiative, saplings were planted at Police Station Sumbal, Irrigation Colony Sumbal, and Eidgah Sumbal. The participants highlighted the crucial role of trees in maintaining ecological balance, mitigating the effects of climate change, and reducing environmental risks such as cloudbursts and other natural disasters.
Speaking on the occasion, the officers emphasized the need for collective efforts to protect the environment and encouraged people to actively participate in plantation and conservation activities. They stressed that planting more trees is one of the most effective ways to ensure a healthier and safer future for coming generations.
Sumbal Police also appealed to the general public to take an active part in environmental protection initiatives and contribute towards making the region greener and more sustainable.
