SRM Welkin School Hosts Grand Investiture Ceremony in Sopore

Sopore, June 18: The SRM Welkin School here on Thursday held an logo unveiling and investiture ceremony, with legislators Irshad Rasool Kar (MLA Sopore) and Irfan Hafiz Lone (MLA Wagoora-Kreeri) attending as chief guests, as the North Kashmir institute showcased its cultural vibrancy and academic vision.

The event, themed “An Occasion of Legacy, Leadership & the Promise of Tomorrow,” witnessed students presenting energetic cultural performances that held the audience captive. The gathering included political figures, local dignitaries, and parents.

MLA Sopore Irshad Rasool Kar said he was “very happy” to interact with the students and announced plans to raise the demand for a special cultural hall in Sopore with the Chief Minister. “Our children are very talented, and if there is any shortcoming here, it is the lack of a cultural hall,” he said, while praising SRM chairman Haji Anayatulla Hajni for his contribution to education.

MLA Wagoora-Kreeri Irfan Hafiz Lone lauded the SRM administration for shaping students and producing consistent results, calling it “a moment of pride for North Kashmir.” He stressed the importance of preserving the mother tongue alongside academic and co-curricular activities, advocating grassroots efforts to protect the dying language. He also said Welkin deserves private university status “given the way it is growing and producing bright, colourful results.”

ADC Sopore S.A. Raina praised the management, crediting patron Haji Anayatulla Hajni for creating an environment where students can flourish.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sopore Iftikhar Talib commended the school on the unveiling of its new logo and formation of a student band. “The ideology and policies of this institution are reflected in the logo,” he said, adding that the ensemble would bring laurels to the institution. He reiterated the police’s commitment to community engagement and youth development through sports and cultural outreach programmes.

The ceremony concluded with vice chairperson Baseema Aijaz thanking all guests and students, speaking about the institution’s growth through dedicated efforts and the trust of the people.
