Tehsil Social Welfare Office Sopore hosts awareness programme for Senior Citizens

Sopore, Mar 07: In a bid to safeguard the rights and dignity of the elderly, the Tehsil Social Welfare Office Sopore on Friday organized a sensitization programme under the National Action Plan for Senior Citizens (NAPSrC) at Community Hall Tujar.

The programme witnessed a significant turnout of senior citizens and locals. Tehsildar Bomai, Zahid Rashid, attended the event as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, resource persons from the Health, Police, and Legal Aid Services underscored the collective responsibility of society in ensuring a life of respect and security for the elderly.

Officials elaborated on various government initiatives and welfare schemes rolled out by the Social Welfare Department for the benefit of senior citizens. The speakers stressed the need for community participation to provide adequate care and support to the aged, ensuring they lead a dignified life.

The event concluded with an interactive session, allowing participants to voice their concerns and share feedback on issues impacting the elderly population. Wasim Ahmad, Tehsil Social Welfare Officer Sopore, presented the vote of thanks, lauding the cooperation from various departments in making the programme a success.
