SIA Kashmir Searches 8 Locations Across Valley; Targets Sleeper Cell Modules
Srinagar, October 08: In a major crackdown against terrorist networks, the State Investigation Agency (SIA) Kashmir conducted extensive searches at eight locations across seven districts of the Kashmir Valley on Wednesday as part of its ongoing efforts to dismantle a sleeper cell module.
The operation was launched under the ongoing investigation of FIR No. 01/2025 registered at Police Station CI/SIA Kashmir, which pertains to a sleeper cell network reportedly functioning under the direction of terrorist commanders of proscribed organisations Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM).
The sleeper cell module, according to preliminary findings, has been engaged in spreading secessionist propaganda, radicalizing youth, and facilitating recruitment into terror activities.
The operation was conducted simultaneously across North, Central, and South Kashmir ranges, reflecting a coordinated, valley-wide approach to strike at the roots of the terror ecosystem.
During the searches, substantial incriminating materials were recovered, and several suspects were apprehended for further questioning. Early investigations indicate that these entities were actively involved in terrorist conspiracies aimed at promoting anti-India narratives, undermining the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country, and inciting disaffection, public disorder, and communal tension.
The SIA stated that the operation underscores the agency’s sustained and unrelenting commitment to ensuring that the entire sleeper cell module is neutralized. Officials emphasized that such coordinated efforts are critical to preventing radicalization, curbing terror recruitment, and maintaining peace and stability across the region.
This large-scale operation forms part of ongoing intelligence-led efforts by security and law enforcement agencies to dismantle the infrastructure of proscribed terrorist organisations operating in the Valley, while ensuring that active operatives and their facilitators are brought to justice.
