Shortage of Doctors at DH Bandipora:  Medical Superintendent responds

Bandipora, January 10: Medical Superintendent of the District Hospital Bandipora on Monday responded to the news item carried out by Kashmir Convener  regarding shortage of Doctors.

In a statement issued to Kashmir Convener Medical Superintendent said the Out Patients Department (OPD) of District Hospital is presently functioning smoothly and catering/attending to about 600-800 patients on daily basis.

          He said the Specialist Clinics like General Surgery, General Medicine, Orthopedics, Psychiatry, Pediatric, NCD are also functioning smoothly. While the hospital has also a dedicated Specialist Consultant call duty roster and call log is maintained in Emergency Department.

          He said only a fraction of patients who need tertiary care are referred to Srinagar. “The hospital has a system of monthly prescription audit policy and referral cases are audited regularly and any deviations are rectified regularly”.

The Medical Superintendent said as per Hospital Administrative Audit, the average waiting time in OPD has never been more than 30 minutes. He however acknowledged that Radiologist is not available in DH Bandipora but Hospital has a dedicated free Tele-Radiology service available 24×7.

He said the Hospital has Complaint & Grievance Redressal System (104) and a dedicated Control Room, functional 24×7 but no such complaints either written or on phone have been received so far as mentioned in the news report.
