Shaheed Singh’s Welfare Delegation Meets LG, Seeks Fresh Probe into Chittisinghpora Massacre

Srinagar, September 6: The members of Sikh community on Saturday demanded fresh probe into the massacre of 35 members of Sikh Community by terrorists 25 years ago.

A delegation of 35 members from the Shaheed Singh’s Welfare Organization, Chittisinghpora, led by its Chairman S. Jagjeet Singh, called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on saturday to highlight unresolved issues relating to the massacre carried out by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists on March 20, 2000.

According to a statement issued by Raj Bhawan, the delegation urged the administration to order a fresh investigation into the massacre. They also raised welfare concerns for the next of kin of the martyred civilians, including the provision of compassionate appointments under SRO-43, extension of benefits on par with non-migrant Kashmiri Pandits, reservation in admissions to various courses in government universities and colleges, and financial assistance for constructing a memorial at Chittisinghpora.

Responding to the delegation, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha reaffirmed his commitment to delivering justice to families affected by terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.

He assured that a thorough inquiry will be conducted and that the grievances of the martyred civilians’ families would be addressed with utmost sensitivity and priority. Eligible family members will be provided compassionate appointments, along with financial support for self-employment initiatives.
