Shaam-e-Watan Celebrates Patriotism and Youth Spirit in Karnah

Srinagar, April 12: In a vibrant display of patriotism, culture, and community participation, the Indian Army organized Shaam-e-Watan, a grand musical and cultural event at Azmat-e-Hind, Tithwal, in the Karnah region of Kupwara on April 11.

The event brought together over 600 attendees, including youth, children, elders, and civil society members, reflecting a strong sense of unity and collective spirit. The programme featured a rich blend of patriotic songs, poetry, and dance performances that captivated the audience and created an atmosphere of pride and emotional connection.

The occasion was graced by General Officer Commanding, 28 Infantry Division, Major General Rakesh Nair, and Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse, who appreciated the enthusiasm and talent displayed by local participants.

A significant highlight of the evening was a collective pledge for a drug-free India, administered by Additional Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Mumtaz Peerzada, underscoring the community’s commitment to tackling substance abuse.

Addressing the gathering, the GOC lauded the people of Karnah for their patriotic spirit and active participation. He also acknowledged the role of community elders in preserving cultural heritage and guiding the younger generation.

The event showcased the creative energy and optimism of Kashmir’s youth, who expressed their aspirations through art and performance, reflecting a forward-looking and harmonious vision for the region.

More than just a cultural programme, Shaam-e-Watan emerged as a powerful symbol of unity, resilience, and renewal—bringing together tradition and aspiration to strengthen the social fabric.
