Srinagar, Oct 08: Seven scientists from the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) have been named in Stanford University and Elsevier’s World’s Top 2% Scientists list for 2026, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Shakil Ahmad Romshoo said on Thursday, calling it a reflection of the university’s growing research output.

Speaking to Kashmir Convener Prof. Shakil Ahmad Romshoo said, the annual list, prepared by Stanford University with publisher Elsevier, ranks researchers worldwide on the basis of citations and the impact of their work in their respective fields.

“It is a great honour for us that this year again seven faculty members from IUST have been recognised under the Stanford listing of top 2% scientists,” Prof. Romshoo said. “This is a prestigious global ranking. Every year, scientists from across the world are listed.”

The Vice-Chancellor linked the achievement to a wider push at IUST towards research, innovation and entrepreneurship. He noted that the Ministry of Education had awarded the university a 4-star ranking for the third consecutive year for promoting an ecosystem of innovation, entrepreneurship and startups.

In the last few years, IUST has been recognised nationally and internationally for its efforts in research, innovation and entrepreneurship, Prof. Romshoo said, congratulating the faculty, technical and non-teaching staff.

The twin recognitions — global scientific visibility and a sustained 4-star innovation rating — are expected to strengthen the university’s standing among research scholars, funding agencies and collaborating institutions in India and abroad.
