SUHAIL RATHER
Bandipora, 05 Jan: Former legislator and senior PDP leader Nizamuddin Bhat has appealed Members of Parliament from Jammu and Kashmir to seek discussion on serious crisis gripping most parts of the state following fresh snowfall.
Bhat in a statement said Kashmir valley is isolated, plunged into darkness and there is acute shortage of drinking water and most of the population is stranded and confined to homes.
"Suffering in remote areas likr Gurez, Karnah, Machil and hilly areas in Chenab valley, Ladakh region and Poonch-Rajouri more compounded because of disconnect. One can imagine how patients should be grappling with life, " he said.
Bhat said since state is under President's rule, parliament and union government has to be alert and more responsive towards the issues of urgent public importance.
He said it is an imperative for MP's of the state to draw their attention towards people's woes and seek immediate support.
Bhat said the MP's should raise power and water crisis in light of lurking issues of state's water resources and should demand compensation and final settlement of the issue on merits.
He said MP's owe it to people that they make a common cause on issues of water resources and should speak in one voice.
