Panchkula, Sept 14: The Chandigarh Circle of the State Bank of India Officers’ Association on Sunday held its 13th Triennial General Council at the Indradhanush Auditorium, Sector 5, Panchkula, drawing participation from more than 2,000 officers across Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh.
The event, which served as a key platform for officer representatives to deliberate on pressing issues in the banking sector, was inaugurated by Krishan Sharma, Chief General Manager, SBI Chandigarh Circle, who joined virtually. In his address, Sharma lauded the efforts of the Association and emphasized the critical role of bank officers in strengthening the country’s financial system.
Com. Rupam Roy, General Secretary of the All India State Bank Officers’ Federation (AISBOF) and the All India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC), delivered the keynote address. He highlighted the challenges confronting bank officers, ranging from work-life balance to policy issues, and briefed the gathering on recent developments concerning officer welfare and organizational reforms.
The session also featured addresses by Com. Arun Kr. Bishoyi, President of AISBOF, along with senior officials of SBI including General Managers Sh. Manmeet S. Chhabra (NW-1) and Sh. Neeraj Bharti (NW-2). Their remarks focused on the evolving role of the banking sector in driving economic growth and the need for officers to adapt to changing technologies and customer expectations.
Adding to the event’s significance, senior leadership and delegates from SBI circles across the country—including Ahmedabad, Amravathi, Bengaluru, Bengal, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kerala, Maharashtra, Mumbai, Northeast, and Patna—took part in the deliberations, making it a truly national congregation of officer representatives.
Com. Priyvrat, General Secretary of the SBI Officers’ Association Chandigarh Circle, said the Triennial General Council provided a vibrant forum for collective discussions on officer welfare, organizational goals, and the challenges facing the banking industry. He noted that the participation of leaders from multiple circles underscored the unity and strength of officer bodies across the federation.
The day-long proceedings were marked by enthusiastic engagement, with delegates reaffirming their commitment to safeguard officers’ interests while contributing to the broader mission of the State Bank of India as the country’s largest public sector lender.
