Bandipora, Mar 7: SANKALP – Hub for Empowerment of Women under the Department of Social Welfare Saturday celebrated International Women’s Day in Bandipora with a programme themed “Give to Gain,” highlighting women’s empowerment and achievements across the district.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Zaffar Hussain Shawal was the chief guest on the occasion while District Social Welfare Officer Bashir Ahmed Malik, supervisors from Mission Poshan, teachers from the Education Department, officials from Mission Shakti and Mission Vatsalya, besides students from various schools were present on the occasion.
Speakers from the District Legal Services Authority, the Education Department and Mission Shakti highlighted the importance of women’s rights, empowerment and equal opportunities in society.
On the occasion, several women achievers from across the district were felicitated for their contributions in different fields. Female students who secured top positions in Class 10 and Class 12 examinations were also honoured along with outstanding female athletes for their achievements in sports.
During the programme, a boutique owner associated with the SANKALP Hub shared her success story, describing how the initiative helped her start her own business and achieve financial independence. Her journey was presented as an inspiration for young women to pursue entrepreneurship and self-reliance.
The event also featured cultural performances including a skit, a traditional Laddishah performance and a Nukkad Natak highlighting themes of women’s empowerment and social awareness.
The programme concluded with a message of unity and a collective call to support and uplift women in all spheres of life.
