Road Safety, Traffic Awareness Programme Held at Pulwama

Pulwama, Jan 22: A road safety and traffic awareness programme was organised at Alamdar Sumo Stand, Drusoo in Pulwama district by Traffic Police, Sector Pulwama, under the supervision of the DySP Traffic Pulwama/Shopian Mushtaq Ahmad, along with DTI Pulwama/Shopian Farooq Ahmad and concerned sector officers.
The programme was organised in collaboration with transporters and drivers of both commercial and private vehicles and witnessed the participation of around 150 people, officials told Kashmir Convener.
During the awareness session, participants were sensitised about the importance of road safety and strict adherence to traffic rules and regulations. Emphasis was laid on the use of protective gear such as helmets and seat belts, observance of speed limits, and the serious risks associated with reckless driving, drunken driving and the use of mobile phones while driving.
Drivers were also briefed on safe driving practices, pedestrian safety and their responsibility in ensuring the safety of the general public on roads. The programme was interactive in nature, allowing participants to raise queries and share their concerns.
Participants appreciated the initiative taken by the Traffic Police and termed it a positive step towards creating awareness and promoting responsible driving behaviour. Traffic Police officials informed that such awareness programmes are being conducted regularly to inculcate traffic discipline and reduce road accidents in the area.
