Road Safety & Traffic Awareness Programme Held at Nundreshi Sumo Stand, Pampore

Pampore, Jan 31: A road safety and traffic awareness programme was organised at Nundreshi Sumo Stand, Tanchibagh Pampore, by Traffic Sector Pampore under the supervision of DySP Traffic Pulwama/Shopian Mushtaq Ahmad, along with DTI Pulwama/Shopian Farooq Ahmad and other concerned sector officers.
Around 140 people participated in the event, which was conducted in collaboration with transporters and drivers of both commercial and private vehicles with the objective of promoting traffic discipline and enhancing awareness regarding road safety measures, officials told Kashmir Convener.
During the session, participants were sensitised about the importance of strictly adhering to traffic rules and regulations. Special emphasis was laid on the use of protective gear such as helmets and seat belts, observance of speed limits, and the serious risks associated with reckless driving, drunken driving, and the use of mobile phones while driving.
Drivers were also briefed about safe driving practices, pedestrian safety, and their responsibility in ensuring the safety of the general public on roads.
The programme remained interactive, allowing participants to share their concerns and experiences. Attendees appreciated the initiative taken by the Traffic Police and expressed support for the continuation of such awareness drives.
Officials informed that similar programmes are being conducted regularly to inculcate traffic discipline and reduce road accidents in the area.
