Road damaged in Bandipora due to incessant rains

Bandipora, 26 April: A road was damaged in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district due to the incessant rains on wednesday.
An official said that the road damaged at Nusoo near Darul uloom Rahimiya, due to the incessant rains.
He said that the officials have reached to the spot to assess further damage in the area.
Soon after the incident, the administration halted vehicular movement on the road.
Authorities have urged residents to exercise caution and avoid crossing the road.
At least 2 houses were partially damaged by the landslide but there were no reports of any loss of life in the incident, a police official said.
He said the residents of the area had been evacuated to safety.
The official said that the situation was being monitored and further details will be shared accordingly.
A dedicated control room has been set up in the district for the assistance of the people.
An officer said, the administration is in touch with the people there and Tehsildar and JE R&B is on the spot to access the situation.
“Luckily there wasn't any human loss, but a couple of houses nearby has partially got damaged which will be accessed for further action,” the official added.
Ab official spokesperson said at around 11PM, due to incessant rains, a land slide was reported in Nusso area of Bandipora district, leading to damages to the main road near Dar Ul Uloom Raheemiyah.
"District Admin Bandipora immediately responded, and the team of officers led by Tehsildar Bandipora, Shiekkh Tariq, SHO Bandipora, and other officials of R&B, PDD and other departments reached the spot to assess the situation. As a precautionary measure and to safeguard the life, few families living downside were relocated to safer locations".
Administration has also stopped the traffic on the said road and has advised people/commuters to take Nowpora – Nusso route via main market for travel.
The weatherman has predicted light to moderate rain and thundershowers with scattered heavy falls over most places over the State for next 24 hours.
