Renowned poet Gul Tanveer’s wife passes away in Bandipora

Bandipora, Jan 19: The wife of renowned poet and literary figure Gul Tanveer of Bandipora, who also heads the Hamkhayal Literary Forum and is a former Girdawar in the Revenue Department, passed away on Sunday after a brief illness, leaving the area in mourning.
The deceased was widely known as a dignified, well-mannered and sociable woman, respected across social and community circles. Her demise has been deeply felt by people from different walks of life in Bandipora and adjoining areas.
A large number of mourners participated in the funeral prayers, following which she was laid to rest at her ancestral graveyard.
Soon after the news of her passing spread, prominent personalities from literary, religious, cultural and political circles reached out to the bereaved family to express their grief and solidarity, particularly with Gul Tanveer.
Several literary and cultural organisations, including Adabi Markaz Kamraz Jammu and Kashmir, Wullar Cultural Forum Nadihal Bandipora and the Literary Forum Bandipora, issued condolence messages.
In their statements, the organisations described the demise as a personal loss to the literary fraternity and expressed heartfelt sympathies with the family, praying for eternal peace to the departed soul and strength for the bereaved to bear the loss.
Family sources said that the fourth-day ritual (Rasm-e-Chaharam) will be observed on Wednesday, January 21, at her residence in Muslim Abad, Bandipora, where condolence gatherings will also be held.
