Srinagar, June 20: The Regional Passport Office (RPO), Srinagar, has been adjudged the Best Passport Office in the country for 2025-26 under the prestigious Passport Seva Puraskar awards instituted by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.
The award was presented by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to Regional Passport Officer B.S. Rawat during the Passport Seva Divas celebrations and the Regional Passport Officers’ Conference held in New Delhi on June 19.
The Passport Seva Puraskar is conferred annually to recognize outstanding performance, efficiency, innovation and citizen-centric service delivery among passport offices across the country.
According to officials, RPO Srinagar secured the top position after excelling across key performance indicators used by the Ministry of External Affairs to evaluate passport offices nationwide. These parameters include operational efficiency, speed of passport processing and verification, grievance redressal mechanisms, and overall quality of public service delivery.
The Regional Passport Officers’ Conference witnessed participation from representatives of 37 passport offices from across India, along with senior officials of the Central Passport Organisation.
The national recognition reflects the sustained efforts of RPO Srinagar in ensuring transparent, efficient and hassle-free passport services for citizens. Officials said the award underscores the office’s commitment to maintaining high standards of service delivery and strengthening public trust through timely and citizen-friendly initiatives.
The achievement is being viewed as a significant milestone for the region, highlighting the growing efficiency of public service institutions in Jammu and Kashmir and their ability to meet national benchmarks in governance and service delivery. (PIB)
