Convener News Desk

New Delhi, Feb 12: REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL) has handed over the project-specific Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) — Bellary Davanagere Power Transmission Limited — to Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PowerGrid) for implementation of an interstate transmission system (ISTS) project.

RECPDCL, a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited under the Ministry of Power, completed the transfer on February 12 following PowerGrid’s selection as the successful bidder through the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) route.

An official spokesperson said the project will be executed on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis, with RECPDCL serving as the Bid Process Coordinator.

The SPV was formally handed over by Saurabh Rastogi, CEO, RECPDCL, to Pankaj Pandey, Executive Director, PowerGrid, in the presence of senior officials from RECPDCL, PowerGrid and Central Transmission Utility of India Limited (CTUIL).

The transmission scheme includes augmentation of transformation capacity at Davanagere and Bellary pooling stations and establishment of a second 400 kV double-circuit transmission line between Bellary and Davanagere, spanning approximately 72 km.

The project has an implementation timeline of 24 months and is aimed at strengthening power evacuation and grid reliability in the region.
