RECPDCL, BSPTCL Sign MoU to Strengthen Bihar’s Power Transmission Infrastructure

Patna, May 22: REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL) and Bihar State Power Transmission Company Limited (BSPTCL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for development of intra-state transmission projects through the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) mode.

The agreement aims to create a modern and reliable power transmission network in Bihar capable of meeting growing energy demands and supporting industrial expansion in the state.

The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Bihar Energy Minister Shri Shailesh Kumar alias Bulo Mandal, Energy Secretary and CMD BSPHCL Shri Ajay Yadav (IAS), RECPDCL Chief Executive Officer Shri Prince Dhawan (IAS), BSPTCL Managing Director Shri Rahul Kumar (IAS), and senior officials from the Energy Department, BSPTCL and BSPHCL.

Officials said the partnership focuses on modernising Bihar’s power grid by building a resilient and technology-driven transmission network to minimise transmission losses and improve power quality.

The project will be implemented through the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding mechanism to ensure transparent, cost-effective and competitive allocation of projects.

The collaboration also aims to accelerate execution of key transmission projects while encouraging greater private sector participation in Bihar’s power sector.

Speaking on the occasion, Energy Minister Shailesh Kumar said the initiative would play a significant role in supporting Bihar’s industrial growth vision for 2025-30 by ensuring reliable and efficient power infrastructure for upcoming industries.

Officials said the agreement is expected to strengthen the state’s transmission capacity, improve operational efficiency and facilitate long-term energy security in Bihar.
