New Delhi, March 18: REC Limited, a ‘Maharatna’ company under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Test House (NTH), functioning under the Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India, to enhance quality testing and assurance mechanisms for materials deployed under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).

The MoU was signed at Krishi Bhavan, New Delhi, by Shri Prabhat Kumar Singh, Executive Director (RDSS), REC Limited, and Dr. Alok Kumar Srivastava, Director General, NTH. The signing ceremony was attended by Smt. Nidhi Khare, IAS, Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs; Shri Bharat Khera, IAS, Additional Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs; and Shri Prince Dhawan, IAS, Executive Director (PMD), REC Limited.

The partnership is the outcome of sustained efforts by REC’s PMD – Quality Assurance Division, led by Shri Yogendra Singh, GM & Head of Department, who spearheaded the initiative to address quality gaps in procurement and installation of materials under RDSS projects.

Under the agreement, REC and NTH will collaborate on third-party quality testing of RDSS materials through NTH’s NABL-accredited laboratories. The two organisations will also jointly conduct technical workshops and training programmes, and work towards developing comprehensive quality frameworks to enhance reliability, safety, and performance standards in power distribution infrastructure nationwide.

The MoU marks a significant step towards strengthening transparency, accountability, and quality compliance in the implementation of RDSS, thereby supporting the broader goal of building a robust and resilient power distribution network across India.
