Srinagar, June 13: Marking the first anniversary of its revered founder, Late Jagdish Chandra Pant (IAS Retd.), REACHA today organized a nationwide tree plantation drive across its project locations in different parts of India, reaffirming its commitment to the values, vision, and legacy of the distinguished civil servant and development practitioner.

The plantation initiative was undertaken across REACHA’s field locations from the plains to the Hills of Kashmir. In Kashmir, the drive was conducted at Nokia Smartpur Centres and other project locations across districts including Bandipora, Budgam, Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam, Kupwara, Ganderbal, and several other areas. A total of ten saplings were planted at each centre, with participation from community members, local stakeholders, youth, and project teams.

The initiative served as a tribute to the enduring philosophy of J.C. Pant, who dedicated his life to community-centred development, environmental stewardship, education, disaster resilience, and inclusive nation-building. Through the plantation drive, REACHA sought to translate remembrance into action, symbolizing growth, sustainability, and hope for future generations.

Late Jagdish Chandra Pant, a retired IAS officer of the 1961 batch and former Secretary to the Government of India, founded REACHA in 1992 with the vision of bridging the gap between development policies and the aspirations of communities. Under his leadership, the organization grew into a respected development institution working across sectors such as education, livelihoods, environment, disaster management, youth empowerment, and community development in diverse geographies of the country.

Speaking on the occasion, members of the REACHA team noted that the plantation drive was not merely an environmental activity but a collective expression of gratitude towards a leader whose life inspired generations to work for the greater good. They emphasized that every sapling planted today represents a living reminder of Shri Pant’s belief in sustainable development, community participation, and responsible stewardship of natural resources.

The organization reiterated its resolve to carry forward the mission envisioned by its founder, ensuring that his ideals continue to guide meaningful interventions across the country. As the saplings take root and grow, they will stand as enduring symbols of a legacy that transcends geography—uniting communities from the villages of Kashmir to project locations across India in a shared commitment to care, growth, and nation-building.

The nationwide plantation drive concluded with participants pledging to nurture the planted trees and continue working towards a greener, more sustainable future, in keeping with the vision and values of Late Shri Jagdish Chandra Pant.
