Bandipora, July 29: The Department of Rural Development Department on Monday organized a day long awareness program at Arin Block in Bandipora district.
The function was presided organized by District Panchayat Office Bandipora. District Panchayat Officer Nazir Ahmad Sofi presided over the meeting while State Coordinator Swach Bharat Mission Mir Anayat was also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion District Panchayat Officer deliberated on the importance of awareness dissemination about the cleanliness and hygiene for the healthy society.
At the outset of the program, he deliberated on the need of inculcation of the values of civility and cleanliness among the people and implored among the audience the essence of participation as a mature community to keep the surrounding clean.
While highlighting the primary responsibility of individuals and local communities of keeping their surroundings clean, he assured all help of the department in making the state the cleanest of the states by making the villages and towns clean. He spoke on the occasion on the topics of waste management segregation, Swatch Bharat Mission and shared success stories of cleanliness.
State Coordinator SBM deliberated upon the scheme and its various components in Arin Block. He also stressed upon the behavioral change with regard to the organic and non-organic waste.
He also gave a comprehensive presentation about the Waste Management and held an interactive session with the audience attended by a large number of women. He stressed on the women to start the cleanliness and hygiene from their household that will guarantee the cleanliness of the society.
Mir Anayat also emphasised on maintaining hygiene and urged people to use separate dustbins for both biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste to segregate the waste generated daily at home and work places.
He stressed on the community participation in dissemination of mass awareness about hygiene, cleanliness and said the proper waste management has been taking as a mission to ensure there is no environmental degradation anywhere in the district.
