The programme, designed for students of Government College for Women (GCW), Parade Ground, Jammu, and Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, culminated in a valedictory function featuring performances and presentations by participants showcasing skills acquired during the internship.

Principal of GCW Parade Ground, Dr. Naveen Anand, attended the closing ceremony as chief guest. The event was also attended by faculty members, cultural practitioners, mentors and students associated with the programme.

The internship, which began on June 4, introduced participants to a range of disciplines including theatre, music, dance, yoga, creative writing, voice and speech training, compering, personality development and studio-based learning. Organizers said the initiative aimed to provide students with opportunities for self-expression, leadership development and collaborative learning beyond conventional classroom settings.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Naveen Anand said the programme had contributed to the personal and creative growth of participants and highlighted the role of arts-based education in enhancing confidence, communication and interpersonal skills among students.

Deepak Kumar, Director of Rangyug Performing Arts Foundation, said the organization has remained committed to creating learning opportunities through the arts for several decades. He noted that the internship was intended to help young women identify their strengths, work collaboratively and build confidence through creative engagement.

During the programme, students presented theatre performances, artistic demonstrations and other creative works developed during the internship. Organizers said the presentations reflected the participants’ progress in communication, stage confidence and artistic expression.

Over the years, SIP has evolved into one of Rangyug’s key educational initiatives, bringing together students, artists, educators and cultural practitioners. The programme seeks to strengthen the connection between higher education and the performing arts while encouraging holistic student development.

Nearly 100 participants received training from resource persons drawn from diverse artistic and educational backgrounds. The internship was coordinated by Ashish Sharma with support from mentors and facilitators who conducted workshops and interactive sessions throughout the programme.

Certificates were distributed to all participants upon successful completion of the internship.

Several students shared their experiences during the valedictory function, highlighting improvements in confidence, communication abilities, teamwork and stage performance. Participants said the internship provided a platform to explore new skills, interact with mentors and engage in creative learning experiences.

The programme concluded with the distribution of certificates and a cultural showcase by the students, marking the end of the 2026 edition of the internship.
