Bandipora, April 15: Protests erupt in Bandipora over the rape of a daughter allegedly by his own father in Chaliwaan area of Bandipora District.
Locals including women rallied in Bandipora Market on Monday and marched through various markets while raising slogans and holding placards with slogans written on it to demand justice for the victim and stern punishment to the culprit.
In a shocking incident, a girl (Name with Held) committed suicide after allegedly raped by her father in Chaliwaan area of Bandipora District.
“The Humanity has died. We are Muslims for namesake. There is nothing like humans in us. Such a gruesome incident has happened and we are silent. Even Satan (devil) will be feeling ashamed today, ” yelled a female protester
Reports said that the girl committed suicide after she was raped by her father at her home. Police after receiving compliant has taken the dead body to Bandipora Hospital for conducting postmortem and the accused father has been arrested.
Case FIR No 04/2019 U/S 506,376,306 has been registered in Police Station Aragam against the accused and investigation has been started in the matter. Meanwhile Superintendent of Police Mr Rahul Malik will address a Press conference regarding the incident at 4pm today(Monday).
The incident has shocked the entire area with people demanding stern action against the accused. "The incident has brought shame to all of us.
In her complaint, the victim's sister has alleged that the girl was raped for several years by their own father but did not speak out fearing retaliation by the accused and her family who live in Bandipora district of north Kashmir. Police have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC) and an inquiry into the matter is currently underway.
The victim's sister also claimed that her uncle raped his own daughter. My father got to know about this and he started doing the same with my sister, claimed the complainant. She also said that she brought the matter to the attention of her grandfather who told her not to tell anyone as it would tarnish the family's reputation. She further alleged that her sister attempted to speak out against her father's misdeeds on several occasions but the accused scared her by threatening to kill her. The sister has also claimed that her father attempted to rape her as well but she managed to save herself. More details in this regard are awaited pending further police inquiry into the matter.
