Prominent Lecturer, Principal NMHSS  Bandipora dies of cardiac arrest; thousands turn up at funeral

Nadihal (Bandipora) 07 September: Renowned educationist of Bandipora who taught thousands of students in Bandipora, passed away on monday afternoon after suffering a massive cardiac arrest.

Family sources said that Tariq Ahmad Shah son of Mohammad Shafi Shah, a resident of Nadihal suffered a massive heart attack Monday afternoon and was immediately shifted to district Hospital Bandipora where he breathed his last. He was 58.

Resident of Nadihal village of District Bandipora served as Chemistry lecturer in many Higher Secondaries of Bandipora and presently was posted as Principal in Nadim Memorial Higher Secondary Kaloosa. 

Bandipore education department lost an able administrator.

Born in a respectable family at Nadihal, he got his earlier education from High School Nadihal and later higher education from NMHS Boys Bandipore and Degree college Sopore. Later he did his Masters degree in Chemistry at Jhat P.G College Baroot Meerut U.P in 1986. He was appointed as lecturer chemistry by public service commission in 1988. He served as lecturer chemistry in various Higher secondary schools of state. 

In June 2008 he was promoted to the rank of Principal and posted at Higher secondary school Qalamabad Kupwara and then he served as HOD Diet Bandipore, Principal HSS Arin and got transferred to NMHSS Bandipore in January 2019.

His death came as a shock to his family as well as the students for whom he had dedicated his entire life. Many took to social networking sites to express their grief and shock over his death.

“I am in a state of shock and pain after i learnt about your passing away to better world. Sir, i highly indebted to you and your selfless sacrifices. I feel devastated and are in deep shock and pain,” wrote a a netizen

Thousands of people from different parts of district turned up at his Namaz- i -Janaza that was offered at 7:00 pm today at Eid Gah Nadihal. Later he was taken to his ancestral graveyard to be laid to rest.

Meanwhile, various religious, social and political organisations and leaders have expressed grief over the demise of Tariq Ahmad.Tariq has left behind his wife, who is also a lecturer and a daughter. (PTK)
