Progressive Farmer Irshad Ahmad Dar from Pampore Honoured at IARI New Delhi

Pampore, Dec 26: Progressive farmer Irshad Ahmad Dar from Patalbagh Pampore, Pulwama was honoured at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), PUSA, New Delhi during the Innovative Farmer Conclave, organised as part of Kisan Diwas celebrations. The event was hosted by IARI to recognise and encourage pioneering contributions in the field of agriculture.

 

Irshad Dar was felicitated for his outstanding and innovative work in farming.

 

He received the award from Dr. R. S. Paroda, former Director General of ICAR, and Dr. Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Director, IARI. As an innovative farmer awardee, he was specially invited by IARI and acknowledged for his role as an inspiration to the farming community.

 

Speaking to Kashmir Convener, Irshad Ahmad Dar shared that his journey began in the small village of Patalbagh, Pampore. He said the guidance and support he received over the years significantly transformed his farming practices. He expressed deep gratitude to SKUAST-Kashmir, particularly the Director Extension and the KVK Pulwama team, for helping him explore new possibilities in agriculture and adopt modern technologies.

 

He also extended sincere thanks to ICAR–CITH Srinagar, especially Dr. M. K. Verma, Director, and his team, for their continuous support and encouragement throughout his agricultural journey.

 

Dar’s recognition at a national platform highlights the importance of scientific intervention, institutional backing, and innovation in empowering farmers and advancing sustainable agriculture in the region.
