Primary School Coolie Mohalla Pannar Declared Unsafe; Shifted to Old HS Pannar Building
Bandipora, November 7: Chief Education Officer (CEO) Bandipora has ordered the immediate relocation of Primary School Coolie Mohalla Pannar after the existing school building was officially declared unsafe by the Public Works Department (PWD).
According to the official order, the Executive Engineer, PWD (R&B) Division Bandipora, through letter No. 5373-74 dated 04/11/2025, reported that the three-room school building at Coolie Mohalla Pannar was in a dilapidated and unsafe condition, posing serious risks to the students and staff.
Acting promptly on the report, the Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Bandipora, through communication No. ZEO/Bpr/025/Estt/8771-72 dated 06/11/2025, confirmed the unsafe status and recommended immediate relocation of the school.
The ZEO further stated that since the school was established under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) scheme, there was no provision for rented accommodation. Therefore, he proposed that the school be temporarily shifted to the old building of High School Pannar, which had recently become vacant after the high school was moved to its new premises.
Accepting the recommendation, CEO Bandipora issued formal directions to shift Primary School Coolie Mohalla Pannar to the old HS Pannar building until permanent arrangements are made.
The order clarified that this temporary setup will continue until the unsafe building is demolished or auctioned and a new school structure is constructed or identified.
Meanwhile the locals have appreciated the move and expressed deep gratitude to the education authorities for acting swiftly in the interest of their children’s safety.
Parents particularly thanked the Zonal Planning Officer Bandipora for his timely intervention and on-ground efforts, which ensured that the issue was addressed without delay.
They also lauded the ZEO Bandipora and CEO Bandipora for their quick and decisive action in relocating the school to a safer location.
Speaking to local reporters, several parents said that the authorities’ prompt response prevented a potential tragedy and ensured uninterrupted academic activities for the students.
