Police Seize 2 JCBs, 2 Dumpers, 3 Tippers in Shopian for Illegal Mining

Shopian, Mar 7: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Shopian seized two JCB machines, two dumpers and three tippers during a drive against illegal mining in the district.

According to officials, the action was carried out by a police team from Police Post Turkwangam in the Heff Shirmal area during routine patrolling.

During the operation, the police intercepted one JCB and two dumpers that were allegedly engaged in the unauthorized extraction and transportation of minerals without the required permissions. In connection with the incident, FIR No. 23/2026 under relevant legal provisions was registered at Police Station Zainapora and further investigation has been initiated.

In another similar action in the same area, the police intercepted another JCB along with three tippers that were reportedly involved in illegal mineral extraction. Following the seizure, FIR No. 24/2026 under relevant provisions of law was registered at Police Station Zainapora and investigation is underway.

Police said the drive against illegal mining will continue as part of efforts to safeguard natural resources in the district.

Officials also appealed to the public to cooperate with the authorities by reporting such unlawful activities, assuring that the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential and strict legal action will be taken against violators.
