Police Crackdown on illegal Mining in Khrew, Seized 10 Vehicles, Arrest 10 Persons

PAMPORE, February 11: In a major operation against illegal mining, the Jammu and Kashmir Police seized ten vehicles including six heavy L&T machines and four tippers and arrested ten persons involved in illegal mining and transportation of minerals in the Khrew Pampore area of Police District Awantipora, police said on Tuesday.

The operation was carried out by a team of Police Station Khrew led by SHO Khrew Inspector Syed Mubarak under the supervision of SDPO Pampore Krishan Rattan against the illegal mining, extraction and transportation of minerals at Wuyan area of Khrew Pampore.

During the operation Police officials seized six heavy L&T machines bearing registration numbers 22SY2100000896, LG 922EZVRN 902686, 048104L122115, KMTPCO 48C9 4L1C 675, HYNDN633PE004646 and LNT 91N6-14180 and four tippers bearing registration numbers.JK03-5327, JK04-7194, JK01L-9588 and JK 04- 0810.

Following the crackdown, case have been registered under FIR Numbers 08/2025, 09/2025 and 10/2025 under relevant sections of law in Police Station Khrew and further investigations are underway.

In recent months, Police District Awantipora has intensified its actions against illegal mining, seizing numerous vehicles, heavy machines and sand boats used for illegal mining, extraction, and transportation of raw materials illegally.

Officials said this proactive approach to curb illegal mining has been actively taken up by all Police Stations of the Police District Awantipora.
