Bandipora, July 02: Vice-President JKAP and Former legislator Bandipora Usman Majid has expressed displeasure over poor quality of construction and maintenance of roads under PMGSY in Bandipora.

In a statement issued to Kashmir Convener today, Usman Majid said, Tall claims of the government about providing better road connectivity in rural areas of Bandipora have fallen flat as majority of roads including Sumlar-Kudara road, Malangam-Gujjarpati road, Garoora-Galkul road and Chandaji road are in pathetic condition. "The work on Sumlar-Kudara road was started in the year 2015 and has been moving at snail's pace ever since, with contractors leaving and resuming work at their own will and whim".

Majid also said that the various roads constructed by PMGSY in Bandipora from Year 2002 onwards are in pathetic state, as only after few days of Macadamisation ,they developed cracks and got damaged owing to faulty engineering. "The macadamisation of these roads could not sustain even for days, which clearly states use of sub-standard quality material," he added.

The ambitious PMGSY scheme seems to be a noticeable failure in Bandipora as here is non-adherence of maintenance of PMGSY roads.

Sluggish pace and poor quality of work on these vital road projects in Bandipora, has been causing severe inconvenience to the general public. The worst condition of roads has made travel miserable and patients being ferried for treatment are the worst victims of this mess. Unsatisfactory quality of works and callous attitude of PMGSY Department in Bandipora is a matter of great concern, Usman Majid added.

Usman Majid have sought Immediate intervention of LG J&K Manoj Sinha and Chief Engineer PMGSY Kashmir to examine this burning issue at highest level & responsibility may be fixed so that corrective measures can be taken.
