PDP clarifies its stand on Jammu, Udhampur seats

Party striving to strengthen secular forces, keep divisive elements at bay: Madni

Srinagar, Mar 24 (KNS): Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday reiterated that in order to strengthen the secular forces, it decided not to field any candidate from two Lok Sabha constituencies of Jammu division.

Senior PDP leader Sartaj Madni trashed the speculations that there is confusion of any sort amongst the PDP voters in Jammu and Udhampur about who to support in the coming parliament elections. “We have already made it ample clear that in bid to avoid division of votes, PDP has decided not to field any candidates from Jammu and Udhampur seats. It means we want the secular forces to keep divisive and communal elements at bay. People know who the secular forces are and who are the communal elements,” Madni told KNS over phone and added that the coming elections are crucial to protect the core interests of Jammu and Kashmir and those who are hellbent to tear apart state’s secular and tolerant character.
