Srinagar, Mar 19: Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) President and former Cabinet Minister, Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen on Thursday paid rich tributes to noted journalist Syed Shujaat Bukhari on his 8th death anniversary, recalling his immense contribution to journalism and peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement, Yaseen described Bukhari as a fearless Journalist and a voice of reason who always advocated dialogue, understanding and reconciliation. He said his writings reflected the aspirations and concerns of the people and played a vital role in shaping public discourse.
Recalling the tragic circumstances of his killing, Yaseen said that Bukhari attained martyrdom on the 29th day of the holy month of Ramadan, a loss that was deeply felt across the Valley and beyond. He said the void created by his untimely demise continues to be felt in the media fraternity and among all those who believed in his vision of peace.
Yaseen further said that Bukhari’s legacy continues to inspire young journalists to pursue truth with courage and responsibility. He prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family, stating that his contributions will always be remembered with respect and gratitude
