Srinagar, June 18: A menstrual awareness programme was organised at Oxford School of Education with the aim of promoting awareness about menstrual health, hygiene and wellbeing among students.
In an official statement issued to Kashmir Convener, it was stated that the awareness session was conducted by certified menstrual educator Erneeb Zehra, who sensitised students about various aspects of menstruation, including menstrual hygiene management, common myths and misconceptions, physical and emotional changes during adolescence and the importance of maintaining good health practices.
The statement said that students actively participated in the interactive session, raised queries and showed keen interest in learning about menstrual health. The programme provided a safe and informative platform for students to openly discuss issues related to menstruation and reproductive health.
As part of the initiative, Menstrupedia comic books were distributed among the students to enhance their understanding of menstrual health through engaging and age-appropriate educational material.
The organisers said the initiative was aimed at empowering young girls with accurate information and confidence to manage menstruation with dignity while promoting awareness and a stigma-free approach towards menstrual health.
The programme was appreciated by the school administration and students and marked another step towards promoting health awareness and education among young learners.
