Bandipora, June 22: Residents of Onagam have expressed serious concern over the condition of the 33 kV power transmission line passing through the area, which has become heavily obstructed by overgrown trees.

According to locals, strong winds frequently cause tree branches to come into contact with the power line, resulting in repeated sparking and flashing. The situation has created fear among residents, who say the exposed risk poses a potential threat to life and property.

Residents stated that the frequent electrical flashes during adverse weather conditions have raised concerns about possible accidents, power disruptions and fire hazards. They urged the concerned authorities to immediately inspect the affected stretch and undertake necessary trimming and clearance of vegetation around the transmission line.

Locals emphasized that timely intervention is essential to prevent any untoward incident and ensure the safety of people living in the vicinity. They appealed to the Power Development Department (PDD) and other relevant agencies to address the issue on priority and maintain the required safety corridor beneath high-voltage transmission lines.

The residents expressed hope that the authorities will take prompt action to mitigate the risk and ensure uninterrupted and safe power supply in the area.
