“No Chains, No Passage”: Gulmarg Road Advisory Ahead of Forecast Snow

Gulmarg, Dec 20: In a proactive move for traveller safety, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Gulmarg has issued a mandatory traffic advisory for the critical Tangmarg-Gulmarg road ahead of forecasted rain and snowfall.
The directive clearly states that from the moment precipitation begins, only vehicles fitted with anti-skid chains will be permitted on the route. Simultaneously, a complete ban on all heavy vehicles will come into immediate effect.
According to the order, a copy of which lies with Kashmir Convener, heavy vehicles and any vehicles not fitted with anti-skid chains will be prohibited from using the route immediately upon the onset of precipitation.
The directive states: “In view of the prevailing weather forecast and the likelihood of rain and snowfall, it is hereby ordered that heavy vehicles and vehicles without anti-skid chains shall not be allowed to ply on the Tangmarg-Gulmarg road and vice versa.”
These restrictions will take effect from the commencement of rain or snowfall and will remain in place until further orders, citing public safety concerns.
Authorities have urged all drivers and vehicle owners to strictly comply with the advisory to prevent accidents and inconvenience during the anticipated severe weather.
The order further cautions that any negligence or non-compliance will be viewed seriously and dealt with sternly. The Tehsildar of Tangmarg and the Station House Officers of the Tangmarg and Gulmarg police stations have been directed to ensure the advisory is strictly implemented in both letter and spirit.
