Srinagar, July 30, CNS: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids on a house of detained person in Awantipora area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday.

Official sources said that the raid was in connection with a case filed against 15 persons by NIA in December last year, who are alleged to be involved in narcotic trade to raise funding for subversive activities in India.

Fresh NIA raids were carried on the house of Hilal Ahmed Khanday, a resident of Khandaypora in Anantnag district, who is truck driver by profession and was arrested April 2019, by Punjab police with a huge amount of 29 Lac in Amritsar.

The case was later handed over to NIA and during it came to fore that Hilal had links with a notorious Punjab based Narcotic dealer Raju Singh, who was arrested after Hilal’s arrest by police in May 2019 from Sirsa Haryana.

NIA also claimed that Ranjit Singh had links with militants, involved in narcotic trade to raise money for funding subversive activities in India in general and Jammu and Kashmir in particular.

Subsequently NIA registered a case in June 2019 in this regard; in which 15 persons were named as accused, Hilal being one among them.

NIA at that time had said that the money was transferred to militant organisations in Kashmir through carriers and Hawala trade.

They had said that Hilal Ahmed Wagay was a courier of Ranjit Singh, who was carrying money generated from narcotic trade to be handed over to various militant organisations active here.

Meanwhile, NIA raids at Hilal’s house in Khandaypora were going on, when reports last came in.
