Gulmarg, Nov 05: Veteran film actor and five-time Member of Parliament, Raj Babbar, on Wednesday expressed his profound personal connection with Kashmir, describing the valley as a peaceful and integral part of his life and career.

Reflecting on his early days, Babbar as per Kashmir Convener stated, “My journey began in the valleys of Kashmir. I launched my career in 1979, and my films have been releasing since 1980. From 1996 to 1997, there is hardly a film of mine that wasn’t shot here.”

He emphasized his long-standing association with the region, adding, “I even produced my own television series for Doordarshan, ‘Gul Bul Bagh,’ which was also filmed here. Many of my films truly belong to this place.”

Dismissing any perceptions of insecurity, the actor-parliamentarian affirmed, “I have never felt that Kashmir was unsafe, nor have I ever considered myself a stranger here. It is a place for those who love.” He also praised the local populace, noting, “The people here always have smiling faces. Wherever I have gone, I have been welcomed with immense warmth.”

During his private visit, Babbar highlighted the spirit of ‘Kashmiriyat.’ “I came here on a personal trip, but everywhere I went, I was received with overwhelming hospitality. Even many officials approached me to ensure I had everything I needed. This is the real Kashmir—this is Kashmiriyat and Insaniyat,” he said.

When asked about the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Babbar chose to focus on the security response. “I do not wish to dwell on negativity, but our nation’s brave security forces have already given a fitting reply and confronted the threat,” he stated.

He said with an invitation to all “I want to tell everyone about this beautiful land. It is a peaceful place. Come here, and you will be greeted by smiling faces. Kashmir is a peaceful and secure destination for everyone.”
