NEP@5: Samagra Shiksha Organises Camp for Specially-Abled Students at Bandipora
Bandipora, July 29: The district administration of Bandipora on Monday organised a District-Level Distribution Camp for Children with Special Needs (CWSN) at the auditorium of Higher Secondary School Bandipora.
An official spokesperson said the programme was organised under the banner of the Directorate of Samagra Shiksha and in connection with the celebration of five years of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. He said the event underscored the policy’s commitment to equity, inclusion, and empowerment.
The camp was inaugurated by Additional Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Bandipora, Shabeer Ahmad Wani, who attended as the Chief Guest.
In his keynote address, Wani appreciated the district’s efforts in mainstreaming specially-abled children and stressed that quality education must be accessible to every child, regardless of physical or cognitive challenges.
“The resilience and determination of these children inspire us all. It is our collective responsibility to ensure they are equipped and empowered to participate equally in society,” he said.
Chief Education Officer (CEO) Bandipora, Altaf Hussain Tara, welcomed the dignitaries and briefed the audience about the measures taken across the district for inclusive education. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to creating learning environments that are sensitive to the needs of CWSN.
“Our focus is on strengthening support systems, enhancing accessibility, and promoting a learning culture that includes everyone,” he said.
Spokesperson said the main highlight of the event was the distribution of assistive aids and appliances to 15 identified children with special needs. The devices, recommended and supplied by ALIMCO, are expected to improve the children’s mobility, communication, and learning abilities, thus enabling greater independence and active participation in school life.
A crucial part of the camp’s success was the dedication of the Special Educators and Resource Persons (RPs), who conducted thorough ground-level assessments, coordinated with ALIMCO, and managed logistics and parental engagement to ensure smooth delivery of services. Their tireless efforts drew praise from both officials and parents alike, with many calling it a “model of compassion-driven professionalism.”
The event saw participation from Principals, Zonal Education Officers, heads of institutions, members of the District Disability Forum, parents, and students. The enthusiastic turnout lent vibrancy to the occasion and reaffirmed community support for the cause of inclusive education.
The distribution camp not only offered tangible support to specially-abled students but also stood as a testament to the district’s resolve to implement the NEP 2020 in letter and spirit — ensuring that no child is left behind.
