Srinagar, Oct 24: Imran Dar, the National Conference candidate who was not successful in the election, has raised serious concerns regarding the integrity of the electoral process. He stated that the outcome validates his party’s long-held contention that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) disrupts the normal conduct of elections.

Speaking Exclusively with Kashmir Convener, Dar questioned the legitimacy of the result, pointing to a discrepancy in the vote count. He noted that while the BJP initially held 28 seats, they ultimately secured 32, and demanded transparency on how this shift occurred. He described the methods used as “horse-trading.”

Dar alleged that the BJP leveraged its significant resources to secure the seat, despite not having a sufficient mandate independently. He asserted that the four additional votes that altered the outcome are a clear indication of unethical political maneuvering and called for the individuals involved to publicly account for their change in allegiance.

Despite the disappointment of the result, Dar expressed his pride in having been given the opportunity to represent the National Conference. He further said, stating that an internal investigation is underway to identify those who reneged on their commitments, vowing that the party will hold them accountable.

Meanwhile, Gurwinder Singh Oberoi, widely known as Shami Oberoi, has pledged to be a vocal advocate for his constituents’ concerns in parliament following his electoral victory.

Speaking exclusively to Kashmir Convener, Oberoi reflected on the results: “The mood is celebratory with our victory on three seats. While we fell short of a fourth win, the overall atmosphere is one of great happiness.”

He reiterated his commitment, stating that he will actively raise and address the people’s issues at the national level.
