NC despite being part of PAGD, fielded proxy in Handwara during DDC polls: Mir Suleiman

Handwara, Jan 10: The newly elected members of District Development Council on Peoples Conference ticket from Rajwar DDC Cconstituency, Mir Suleiman Sunday stormed a controversy, saying he contested DDC polls against a candidate who was National Conference’s proxy.

Mir who was talking to reporters in north Kashmir’s Handwara alleged that National Conference despite being a key constituent of PAGD, fielded proxy candidates during DDC polls. “I was in fray with a good intent that constituents of PAGD are sincere at this juncture but was surprised to know that a key constituent of the alliance had fielded proxies on ground”, Mir alleged.

He claimed that before polls, he along with chief election campaigner, approached NC leader’s residence and sought his support during polls.

Notably Mir, a member of Sajad Lone led People’s Conference (PC) won Rajwar territorial seat won with huge margin.

Besides Handwara, there were reports from several constituencies where constituents of the alliance fielded their proxies.

On January 09, PC General Secretary and former minister Imran Raza Ansari also raised concern over fielding proxy candidates and asked party president to introspect for being part of alliance ahead.
