Bandipora, June 9: Advocate Nazir Malik, Zonal Secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) North Kashmir and Constituency In-Charge Bandipora, has expressed gratitude to Chief Minister for pursuing the proposed Bandipora–Gurez Road project, describing it as a significant step towards improving connectivity and development in the region.

In a statement issued on Monday, Malik said the Chief Minister’s intervention in the project reflects the government’s commitment to addressing the developmental needs of the people of Bandipora, Sonarwani and Gurez.

He stated that the project has generated expectations among residents seeking improved road connectivity and infrastructure.

According to Malik, the proposed road project is expected to enhance transportation links between Bandipora and Gurez and contribute to economic and social development in the region.

He said better connectivity could facilitate tourism, trade and commerce, while also improving access to education, healthcare and other essential services.

Malik further said that Gurez possesses significant tourism potential and that improved road infrastructure could help attract more visitors to the area, benefiting local businesses and generating employment opportunities.

The JKNC leader also commented on local political developments, criticizing the MLA Bandipora for what he described as engaging in political posturing rather than contributing constructively to developmental initiatives.

He alleged that attempts were being made to claim credit for projects pursued through other channels.
Malik said that development projects should not become subjects of political competition and called upon public representatives to work collectively in the larger public interest.

He emphasized the need for cooperation among all stakeholders to ensure the timely execution of major infrastructure initiatives.
Malik further maintained that the government led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is working on developmental projects aimed at addressing public concerns and improving infrastructure across the region.

Malik reiterated his appreciation for the Chief Minister’s efforts regarding the Bandipora–Gurez Road project and expressed hope that the initiative would contribute to improved connectivity and economic growth in the area.

The Bandipora–Gurez Road project has long been a subject of public discussion in the region, with local residents and stakeholders advocating for enhanced connectivity between the districts to facilitate transportation and development.
