Bandipora, March 15: Authorities have suspended vehicular movement on the 85-kilometre Bandipora–Gurez road following fresh snowfall at Razdan Top, officials said on Sunday.
According to officials, fresh snowfall at the high-altitude Razdan Pass led to slippery road conditions and reduced visibility, prompting authorities to suspend traffic movement on the road as a precautionary measure.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate Gurez, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, said that traffic on the road connecting Bandipora with the remote Gurez Valley will remain suspended until further orders.
“Due to snowfall at Razdan Top and as a precautionary measure, movement on the Bandipora–Gurez road shall remain suspended till further orders,” the SDM said.
He added that several areas of Gurez Valley, including Dawar and Tulail, also received fresh snowfall during the day.
The Bandipora–Gurez road, which passes through Razdan Top at an altitude of over 11,000 feet, serves as the main road link connecting Gurez Valley with the rest of Kashmir through Bandipora district.
