MLA Gurez Visits GHSS Purana Tulail, Assures Infrastructure Upgrades

Bandipora, Sept 1: Member of Legislative Assembly from Gurez constituency, Nazir Ahmad Khan, on Monday paid a surprise visit to Government Higher Secondary School (HSS) Purana Tulail, Bandipora, as part of his outreach programme to assess educational infrastructure and review challenges faced by schools in the remote valley.
Khan was received by Principal Hashim Bhat, teaching and non-teaching staff, and a large gathering of students. During his visit, the MLA interacted with teachers and staff to discuss major issues confronting the institution. The staff highlighted the shortage of subject-specific teachers, demand for construction of an auditorium, need for upgraded classrooms and laboratory facilities, internet connectivity for smart classes, and construction of a boundary wall for the campus.
The MLA assured the gathering that their concerns would be taken up at the appropriate forums and reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening education in far-flung areas like Gurez. “Education is the foundation of a progressive and self-reliant society, and the government is determined to improve facilities for students in remote regions,” Khan said.
During an interaction with students, he encouraged them to remain focused on their studies and make maximum use of available resources. He also took a tour of the campus, including classrooms, science and computer labs, and the library. Expressing appreciation for the efforts of the staff in maintaining academic standards despite challenges, he promised steps to improve infrastructure at the earliest.
In his concluding remarks, Khan reiterated his commitment to uplift the educational standards in Gurez valley and assured that immediate steps would be initiated to resolve pressing issues raised by the school. The visit ended with a vote of thanks from Principal Hashim Bhat, who expressed gratitude for the MLA’s concern and proactive approach toward the betterment of education in the region.
