Mirwaiz Slams Killing of Iran Supreme Leader, Calls for Complete shutdown Tomorrow

Srinagar, Mar 01: Kashmir’s chief cleric, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, on Sunday expressed deep sorrow and outrage over the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Syed Ali Khamenei, holding the United States and Israel responsible for what he termed a “brutal killing” that has sent shockwaves through the Muslim world.

In a statement issued to news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) Mirwaiz condemned the “ongoing aggression against Iran,” also specifically mentioning the “massacre of innocent girl students in Minab.” He asserted that the people of Jammu and Kashmir collectively denounce this act of violence.

Mirwaiz stated, “Deeply saddened and outraged at the brutal killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Syed Ali Khamenei by the US and Israel that has shaken the Muslim world.

Describing it as an hour of immense sorrow, he expressed solidarity with the people of Iran. “In this hour of immense sorrow, our hearts beat with the resilient people of Iran. May Allah grant strength to the oppressed, elevate the martyrs, and bring swift justice to those responsible for this,” he said.

Mirwaiz called upon the Muslim Ummah to rise above divisions and stand united against the “continued aggression in the region.”

Meanwhile In a significant development, the Mirwaiz announced that the Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulama (MMU), an amalgam of religious scholars, has called for a complete strike on Monday.

He urged the people to observe the shutdown with unity, dignity, and complete peacefulness. (KNS)
