Mass Parent-Teacher Meeting Held at HS Chorwan, Gurez to Promote NEP 2020 Awareness

Gurez, Aug 25: In a bid to strengthen school-community partnerships and create greater awareness about the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, a mass Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) was organised at High School Chorwan in Gurez on Monday. The event, chaired by Mohammad Younis, Cluster Head and Head of Institution (HOI) of GHSS Dawar, brought together educators, parents, students, and alumni in a constructive dialogue on the future of education in the region.

The PTM witnessed active participation from a cross-section of stakeholders, including Sr. Lecturer Mohammad Shafi, Lecturer Mubina, Headmaster HS Chorwan Mohammad Zafar Margrey, teachers from affiliated schools, parents, students, and local alumni. The presence of multiple Heads of Institutions from the cluster added weight to the deliberations.

Speaking on the occasion, Cluster Head Mohammad Younis underlined the importance of NEP 2020 in reshaping the education landscape. “The New Education Policy aims at holistic development, competency-based learning, and preparing our students to meet global challenges while rooted in local values,” he said, adding that PTMs play a vital role in building accountability and strengthening trust between schools and the community.

Complex Head and Headmaster of HS Chorwan, Mohammad Zafar Margrey, highlighted the efforts of the school in implementing new pedagogical practices. “We are working to make classrooms more engaging and student-friendly, in line with NEP’s objectives. Parents are key partners in this journey,” he stressed.

Several teachers, including Master Mir Irfan Maqbool and Teacher Hafizullah Lone, also spoke about the role of parents in monitoring academic progress and supporting extracurricular growth. The session allowed parents to raise concerns regarding infrastructure, availability of resources, and career guidance for students, which the school authorities assured would be addressed on priority.

Adding a celebratory touch to the event, meritorious students and distinguished alumni were felicitated for their achievements. Their recognition, according to officials, was aimed at motivating young learners to strive for excellence.

The PTM concluded with a strong message of collaboration, with parents pledging greater involvement in their children’s academic journeys. The event was hailed as a landmark in bridging the gap between educators and the community in Gurez, a region often grappling with geographic and infrastructural challenges.
