Literary Forum Bandipora finalises annual event date

Bandipora, Jan 11: An extraordinary meeting of the Literary Forum Bandipora was held on Friday at Nazki House, with all members participating in deliberations aimed at strengthening literary and cultural activities in the district.
An official spokesperson said the meeting began with a Dua-e-Maghfirat for the wife of noted poet and founding member Ghulam Hassan Tayir, who passed away recently, with members expressing condolences to the bereaved family.
A Dua-e-Shifa was also offered for the early recovery of prominent literary figure Ghulam Nabi Zahid, who is currently unwell.
During the meeting, it was unanimously decided that the Forum’s annual literary programme will be organised on February 15, during which the Nazki Award will be formally conferred. The award, announced last year, will be presented posthumously to late Farooq Nazki for his contributions to literature, and to Prof. Naseem Shafayee, an eminent poet and literary scholar.
Presiding over the meeting, Forum President Sufi Showkat stressed the need for renewed commitment, collective responsibility and active participation to keep the organisation vibrant and inclusive. He underlined the role of the Forum in promoting literature, language and culture in the region.
General Secretary Mansoor Muntazir presented an overview of the current literary scenario, highlighting challenges faced by literary institutions. He emphasised voluntarism, collective participation and selfless service as key to sustaining literary movements.
Several members, including Mir Tariq, Mubashir Nazki, Mir Dachigami, Ghulam Hassan Tayir, Rouf Gayel and Dr Basharat Fakhir, also shared their views, stressing unity, continuity of literary activities and the need to nurture young literary talent.
The meeting concluded with a resolve to work collectively for the promotion of literature and the successful organisation of upcoming literary programmes.
